"An ideology is best taught through the example of individuals who embody it. It is people's lives that reveal the value of an ideology."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I now have remonstrated with the authorities three times for the solepurpose of saving Japan from ruin."

Daily Guidance

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Daishonin writes: 'If one fails to denounce the enemies of the Lotus Sutra, it will be impossible to attain the way' (WND-1, 78). The great and direct path to attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime and achieving kosen-rufu is found in the struggle to thoroughly defeat the arrogance that devalues humanity and disrespects human life. One is not qualified to proclaim the truth unless one is willing to denounce falsehood. Only by refuting the erroneous can we reveal the true. The great German philosopherImmanuel Kant (1724-1804), one of the first Europeans to take note of theLotus Sutra, sternly warned: 'Do not suffer your rights to be trampled underfoot by others with impunity.'"

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground.'"

"The path of friendship is opened broadly when we strive with sincerity and wisdom to make the most of every encounter."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When a tree has been transplanted, though fierce winds may blow, it will not topple if it has a firm stake to hold it up. But even a tree that has grown up in place may fall over if its roots are weak. Even a feeble person will not stumble if those supporting him are strong, but a person of considerable strength, when alone, may fall down on an uneven path."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Nevertheless, even though you chant and believe in Myoho-renge-kyo, if you think the Law is outside yourself, you are embracing not the Mystic Law but an inferior teaching."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The lifeblood of democracy, the power to propel humanistic education--all this and more are found in courageous, forthright dialogue. The avoidance of dialogue, the sly and cowardly encroachments of silence in its various forms--these will only deepen the darkness that envelops our contemporary world.
"Now more than ever, it is vital that we spread throughout the world the sparkling spring winds of dialogue -- dialogue that enables all members of the human family to understand and appreciate each other, dialogue to learn from our diversity, dialogue that reveals hopeful goals to the new generation, dialogue that inspires the courage we need to move forwards together."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, stated that, if anyone should abuse or curse someone who is spreading the Lotus Sutra in the evil world of the latter age, that person would be guilty of an offence that is a hundred, thousand, ten thousand, million times greater than if he had been an enemy of the Buddha for the space of an entire kalpa."
