"Believing in the Gohonzon means believing that the supremely noble state of life manifested by the Daishonin also exists within our own lives. This means persevering in faith and practise as a votary of the Lotus Sutra, just as the Daishonin did. Only by striving in faith with the same spirit that he teaches can we vanquish the ignorance or darkness that clouds our lives."
